Remote Timed Security

The Remote Timed Security mode works by pre-configuring a security policy on the B.E. Server for each target Data Device with the B.E. Client agent installed. This pre-configured security policy can configure the B.E. Client on the Data Device to perform any of the Core Security Commands on the device should it not connect to the B.E. Server within a pre-configured period of time.

Reactive_FreezeWhen the Remote Timed Security mode is enabled for a Data Device the B.E. Server also sends a secure password to the BE Client on the target Data Device. This secure password is stored securely on the target Data Device’s local disk. Should the Data Device fail to communicate with the B.E. Server within the pre-configured period of time, the Data Device will be prompted to connect to the Internet to prevent the pre-configured Remote Timed Security commands activating. If the Data Device is unable to do so the System Server Administrator can, upon request, supply the one-time password that resets the Client Agent Remote Timed Security internal clock, thereby enabling the Device User to access the Data Device as normal. The internal clock in the B.E. Client is reset and will start the countdown again. This password is automatically reset when the Data Device containing the Client Agent next connects to the System Server.

The Timed Lockdown feature uses a countdown clock stored within the BE Client to manage this security feature. This eliminates any opportunity for the Device User to try to prevent the Timed Security feature activating by resetting the device’s own internal clock.
