How Does Corporate IP Fencing Work?
The Corporate IP Fencing Security mode works by pre-configuring a security policy on the B.E. Server for each target Data Device with the B.E. Client agent installed. This pre-configured security policy can configure the B.E. Client on the Data Device to perform any of the Core Security Commands on the device should it move out of range of a pre-defined IP address(es).
This does not affect any Reactive Security commands that may be waiting for the device when it comes back within range. - From the BE Administration Interface the administrator has access to a new module called “Local Fencing”. This module can be used at Group Level or Individual Device Level. Local Fencing is based of the current Timed command available in version 3.3 of BEE.
- The Local Fencing module allows the administrator to define a set of IP addresses that the device must be able to communicate with at all times.
- If the device moves outside of a network where it can no longer communicate with these IP addresses the BE Client will automatically activate a preset local security policy.
- The device can also be preset so that when it can communicate with the IP addresses again the predefined security actions can be automatically reversed.
